Beginners can get started with their training in our adult or children's fencing classes where they will learn the basic fundamentals that they can build upon if they decide to move on to a competitive level. Kids Fencing Classes
Cavaliers: our beginner youth class is designed for students ages 5 to 13, with little or no experience in fencing. It includes six 1 hour sessions during which students engage in conditioning exercises, footwork, drills and beginning fencing instruction.

Adult Fencing Classes
This class is geared toward adult fencers new to the sport, ages 14 and up. Here you'll hone fencing technique, basic tactical skills, while developing physical power and agility.

Club Membership
Highly specialized classes for advanced competitive fencers. Fencers here train for local and national competitions participating in rigorous training, drilling, and free fencing. These classes are overseen by the salle's maestros.

Mayor White cited Coach Mauro’s recent appointment as National Coach for the men’s foil team, as well as his past results as a coach. The honor is timed to coordinate with the start of Salle Mauro’s Winter Camp.

Our yearly competitive schedule for 2009 youth, cadet, junior and open fencing tournaments is now posted. Light green denotes Regional Open Circuits, dark green is for NACs, light blue is for RYCs, and dark blue is for SYCs.

Perfecting his thrust, pull and parry are all in a day’s work for Rice University’s Mauro Hamza, recognized as one of America’s top fencing instructors. Hamza really hit his mark in July when he was chosen to coach the U.S. National Men’s Foil team for the 2012 Olympics.

Life-changing moments come in all shapes. For me, it was a beekeeper’s mask. Actually, it just looked like a beekeeper’s mask, with its black metal mesh.

Had the moments immediately following his appointment as men’s foil coach for Team USA been filled with fanciful thoughts of Olympic glory, no one would have blamed Rice fencing coach Mauro Hamza. Such inclinations are completely natural.
