Mauro Hamza
Recently appointed National Coach for Men’s Foil, Mauro has long been hailed as one of America’s top fencing instructors. For years he has guided fencers of a variety of ages and levels to excellence. Since arriving in the United States in 1994, he has had great success developing students who have reached world level competitive results.
His students have won dozens of Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals nationally and abroad, as well as numerous U.S. National Titles. In 2000-2001, he was coach to the Cadet and Junior National Men’s Foil Team. He has also coached the fencing team at Texas A&M University and is the fencing coordinator for the Rice recreation center. For Mauro, his professional career reached an all time high when he was asked to be the Coach for the 2004 Olympic Egyptian Foil Fencing Team.
Daniel Gorman
Dan Gorman is full-time coach at Salle Mauro, where he teaches classes and private lessons in all three weapons. His students have achieved top rankings in regional and national United States Fencing Association tournaments.What distinguishes Coach Dan is his intense passion and energy for the sport of fencing, whether guiding an up-and-coming talent to the national level or introducing fencing to a child or adult for the first time.
Dan — certified as a Moniteur with the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association – is known for his ability to build personal relationships with his students and bring out their best, while instilling rock-solid fencing fundamentals.
He spent a year in Iraq deployed with the Army Reserve and graduated first in his military class in leadership training. While in Baghdad, he started a popular fencing program for soldiers.
Dan formerly coached the Texas A&M University Fencing Team, where he lead students to national championships within the U.S. Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs.
Dan discovered the sport – and his future wife, epeeist Liz Gorman – while attending Purdue University, where he later became fencing coach.
Noura Younis
As a competitior, Noura was Junior Arab Champion, the Egyptian National Champion, and the African Champion and has received dozens of other gold medals at national and International competitions. Noura channels the same energy that made her a top fencer to help her students as a coach.
Since becoming a coach, Noura is focusing on the salle’s future fencers, working to develop a solid foundation for their future competitive careers. She has brought many of our fencers to top regional and national results.
Aldo Precciozzi
Aldo started fencing in his native Uruguay before coming to the US. He coaches foil and has developed several of our fencers to finals appearances in national competitions.
