By order of Mayor Bill White of Houston, December 26 has been declared Mauro Hamza Day.

Mayor White cited Coach Mauro’s recent appointment as National Coach for the men’s foil team, as well as his past results as a coach. The honor is timed to coordinate with the start of Salle Mauro’s Winter Camp.

Mauro was also honored by Rice University President David Leebron.

With the start of the regular flu season and other illnesses that are going around, the coaches at Salle Mauro would like to remind our fencers and families to help control the spread of illnesses. There are several simple steps to help keep everyone healthy and limit the spread of illness.

1. Eat a balanced diet and try to keep regular sleep hours.
2. Wash hands regularly.
3. Cough or sneeze into the elbow instead of hands.
4. Stay home it you’re feeling ill.

Please help us keep the entire Salle Mauro family healthy and be sure to take care of yourselves.

We will also help to keep everyone healthy by sending home fencers who aren’t feeling well. We feel it is important to try to keep the club a healthy place for our fencers and hope everyone understands.
