Start of the new season

August 2006

Dear our parents & fencers,

On behalf of all our Coaches, allow me to be the first to bid you all a hearty welcome (or welcome back) to the Salle Mauro Fencing Academy for the start of the 2006-2007 fencing season. A close and open relationship between the academy and the parents is , we believe , vital to the success of so many of our fencers. They achieve their best because of this partnership; together we see their strengths and encourage them; together we try to anticipate problems and thereby avoid them. Please feel free to contact us at the academy if you have any question about our programs.

It is my sincere hope that you and your son or daughter will enjoy your stay with us at Salle Mauro Fencing Academy throughout the coming season and beyond.

I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you all as we begin an exciting new fencing season at Salle Mauro fencing academy. All teams should be ready to come back with full speed. Please contact us for classes schedules.

Yours sincerely,

Mauro Hamza

Program Director

Ben & Neely returned from the 2006 Cadet and Junior World Championships with a triumphant US team who exceeded their previous best record, winning eleven medals over the course of the Championships, two more than in 2001.

U.S. athletes won three bronze, one silver, and four gold in Under-17 (Cadet) events, gold and bronze in Under-20 (Junior) events and one team medal — the Junior Team Women’s Saber gold.

The members of the US Cadet and Junior  teams earned thier place by competing at national and international tournaments throughout the year, slowly accruing points to eventually become one of the 3 best fencers in their age category and weapon.

We’re extremely proud of Ben and Neely. Great work!

Salle Mauro owner Mauro Hamza was recently honored by Rice University for his 10+ years of dedication and service to the university.  Mauro has been responsible for the development of fencing at the Recreation Center.
